ESP

ESP by Peggy Parks is a book about history, people, and fascinating events that can not be explained (Parks 4). Scientists, experts, and different eyewitnesses do their best to explain and examine ESP, psychics, and the sixth sense. Seeing into the future before it happens is known as precognition or premonition which is a type of ESP. ESP is sometimes called the sixth sense or sometimes psychic powers (Parks 7). If you believe that psychic phenomenon is not real, this would be called pathological disbelief. The book also explores the roots of ESP, like Ouija boards, mediums, and dark spirits (Parks 12). Now in our time, we use psychic cops quite frequently (Parks 52). These psychics use their intuition to guide them. This book also used many personal experiences to show examples of ESP. Becky Vollink is a young woman from Michigan who experienced the paranormal (Parks 37). Becky was distraught after her husband’s death so she convinced herself she needed to see a psychic. When she walked through the door, the psychic immediately knew why she was there and was ready with a message from her deceased husband, Dave.

There were only a few things that I disliked about this book. It was sometimes confusing. I lost interest quickly and it was hard to stay on task while reading it. It was also disorganized at some points. I thought the information was sometimes vague and could be considered defective.

I really liked all of the individual stories during the personal experiences portion of the book. It helped me feel like I was in their shoes when they expressed it in their way. I found it really interesting to learn about ESP and how it originated. I also enjoyed learning about how police officers use ESP cops during investigations.

History of Psychics

The history of psychic powers date back to our very existence. Examples would be medicine men, prophets, etc. Alexander the Great even played a role by talking to prophets. Certain names were even thought to have a form of psychic powers. Many child games originated from a psychic past. "Superstitious beliefs, too, are traced to the history of psychic powers," says Bob from Psychic Training Course. Modern skepticism can be traced back to a point where psychic powers gave them a reason to be.

I think that there is a reason for everything and that there are reasons why we are so skeptical of everything. Something has to get our mind thinking and that something could might as well be psychics.

These girls are psychic twins. They were actually the first to predict 9/11 two years before the twin towers were actually struck. They have an abnormal gift that definately sets them apart.

Types of Psychics

The topic of psychics are among the most interesting. "Let's face it; everyone is fascinated with psychics," says Michael Russell. Despite what most people say, most have questions like: Can people become in touch with the dead? Can they see the future or the past? In the psychic world, there are two types of psychic readers. "Shut Eyes" are people who actually believe they are in touch with the dead and "Open Eyes" are people that think they have a mystical or worldly power within them (Russell).

This article goes into the some types of psychics. I believe that there are probably different types of psychics but I'm not sure if what he says is accurate based on that each psychic is different with his or her powers. I find it hard to believe that someone can become in touch with the dead since that seems like a more advanced power.

Are Psychics Real?

Many people who claim to be psychic are actually fake. Other professions have guide lines and authority to abide by, but psychics have none. They have the capability of faking their ability and taking your money. "If you feel you are being conned and cheated, then you probably are," says Jeffry R. Palmer. A professional psychic usually relies on their reputation more than anything. Most real psychics are confident in their job. Usually advertising goes as far as the travel of word by mouth. Since the majority of psychics are faking their powers, it makes it hard for people like us to understand psychics and what their abilities actually are (Palmer).



My personal opinion is that are some things that happen in the world that can not be explained, some psychic circumstances included. Judging by this article, I think that most psychics are faking their ability to predict the future. I do agree that if you feel as if you are being cheated out of your money, then you probably are, especially if there are not many actual psychics in the world. I think that psychics are a hard subject to talk about since they are so rare and that they are more judged on other people's opinions rather than hard facts.
