Psychics have gone by many different names throughout history but when it comes to their abilities, they haven’t changed. Some believe that they can move beyond the temporal plane. Some believe that there are things that extend beyond our natural awareness. These people are called psychics. Wanting and searching for truth in the form of talking to dead people, using tarot cards to tap into the human subconscious and using ESP, or telepathy are all things these people claim to do; often they are getting out of their earthly shell. Other names for psychics are mediums, necromancers and spiritualists.
I find it difficult to comprehend what it means to move beyond a temporal plane or level. Psychics come in different forms, but none are too confusing to understand their concepts and strategies. It’s just hard because you can’t necessarily prove they are a psychic by a standard test. Psychics also have many names, which is something I forget.

During the 1920's most scientists were very apprehensive about doing any type of Psychic research. The psychic field was much disrespected at that point. Then in 1920, William McDougal came from England to Harvard. "He openly expresses an interest in the paranormal," and in psychic abilities. He later adapted the term parapsychology from the German.
I found it very interesting to hear about more of the history behind psychics and its meaning. I was surprised to hear that some information was from Germany. I forget that other countries have the same paranormal experiences and psychic skeptics as we do. I’m also sure it probably varies in different places.

I found this extremely funny because a psychic gets caught not making the right connections with someone from the audience.

Psychic Interaction
Since I was studying psychics, I was very interested in having a personal psychic experience. My mother couldn't get off of work to take me to an actual psychic, so we decided we would do our own experiment. My great aunt used to work with the Decatur Polic
e Department and my mother, me, and my grandmother sometimes experience psychic moments with eachother. So, we decided to test our limits ourselves. We used cards they use to test psychic abilities that have either a cross, waves, a square, a circle, or a star on it. Since I've been studying psychics, I already knew what me and my mother needed to do. There is a sender and a reciever. The sender concentrates on the shape and the reciever keeps their mind completely open in hopes of getting the shape correct. First, my mom was the sender and I was the reciever. I didn't get the first two shapes right, but then got two of them right. Then, I didn't get four right, then got the last two correct.
I ended up getting four out of ten symbols right. Then, we traded spots, and I was the sender and she was the reciever. She had the same exact pattern as me, so she also got four out of ten symbols. After doing this twenty times, we decided to try to send a number between one and ten back and fourth. My mom, as the reciever, got only one out of ten sessions right. When I was the reciever, I also only got one out of ten sessions right.

We both experience weird psychic moments and it was cool to get to test our ability to communicate with eachother. We learned that If we thought deeper about the symbol, as in thinking about how the object would feel if you traced it, it would help make a better connection. Also, if you pictured the object, not just saying the name of the symbol in your head, it would also inprove results. You had to mentally send it to the person your transfering thoughts with.
